(August 19, 2016) Raleigh, North Carolina. Holly Hill Hospital, LLC has successfully obtained a Certificate of Need from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) to develop additional adult inpatient psychiatric beds in a newly constructed facility on the hospital’s Michael J. Smith
Lane campus. Holly Hill has crossed an important threshold in the development process and is now a significant step closer to bringing the new psychiatric facility to realization.

The $15 million state-of-the-art building will house 32 adult inpatient psychiatric beds and extend the hospital’s standard of service excellence to additional adults in need of crisis stabilization services. The Division of Health Service Regulation of DHHS, specifically the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section, requires healthcare providers to detail all aspects of a proposed development before establishing a new healthcare facility. The approval of this CON signifies that Holly Hill’s plans for a new adult psychiatric facility mirror North Carolina’s mental health needs.

“We welcome this decision by members of the State Health Planning and Certificate of Need Committee,” said Michael S. McDonald Jr., CEO of Holly Hill Hospital. “We are confident that building this new facility and increasing our adult inpatient services will help the community, especially Wake County, in many ways…from the patients in crisis who require around-the-clock care and active treatment, to the emergency departments who have been consistently overwhelmed by the influx of patients requiring mental health services, and finally to members of law enforcement who transport patients from across the
State to our facility every day.”

This new addition to the Holly Hill Hospital psychiatric and addictive disease health system will allow the hospital to continue to deliver the individualized clinical care North Carolinians have relied on for over 35 years.

At present, Holly Hill offers inpatient and outpatient day treatment for adults 18 and older at their Falstaff Road campus, and inpatient services for children ages 4 to 17 at their Michael J. Smith Lane campus. For additional information and facility updates, please visit HollyHillHospital.com.
