(May 11, 2017) Raleigh, North Carolina. Amanda Allen Johanson has been named Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Holly Hill Hospital, LLC effective May 1. Johanson will succeed Michael S. McDonald, Jr., who currently holds the position of Group Director and Chief Executive Officer at Friends Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia, PA.
A native of Brunswick, GA, Johanson has been with Holly Hill since 2013 and has served as Interim CEO since February, 2017. Prior to her recent appointment she was Chief Operating Officer of Holly Hill and spearheaded the development of the hospital’s Young Adult Stepping Stones program, the only acute unit for patients ages 18 to 26 in North Carolina to date. Johanson will continue to lead the overall strategy, direction and operation of Holly Hill to ensure patient safety and experience, clinical quality and employee engagement.
This announcement comes after Holly Hill’s Certificate of Need (CON) approval to develop 64 additional adult inpatient psychiatric beds in a newly constructed facility on the hospital’s Michael J. Smith Lane campus.
“I appreciate this opportunity to continue serving the North Carolina community,” said Johanson. “We have an incredible team committed to providing safe, innovative and individualized clinical care for those patients battling addiction or mental illness. Since 2013, our expansions have reflected the growing needs of our State. We look forward to continuing to meet these needs in 2018 and beyond.”
Johanson is active in the North Carolina healthcare community and has supported the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) North Carolina and Wake County affiliates through both board and event committee participation. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University.
