Programs & Services

Adult and Adolescent PHP at Holly Hill

We have two PHP mental health programs: one for adolescents 13 to 17 and another for adults 18 and up. Typically, people in PHP are stepping down from an inpatient level of care. Group sessions meet Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch and snacks are included.

PHP Mental Health Services at Holly Hill Hospital: Why Choose Us?

Adults and adolescents receive compassionate care from skilled mental health providers. Licensed therapists, psychiatrists and nurses work together to provide seamless services and help you achieve your goals.

Highlights of our program include:

  • Small groups: Your group therapy sessions are limited to 12 people so we can provide attentive care.
  • Tailored therapy sessions: You complete a self-assessment each morning, so the therapist knows how you’re doing. The therapist then tailors that day’s session to the group’s needs. Topics may include communication skills, managing conflict and trauma recovery.
  • Medication management: Each week, you meet with a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner to discuss your symptoms and whether you’d benefit from medication.
  • Nonjudgmental environment: We pride ourselves on providing a sensitive, healing environment in which you can enjoy a sanctuary-like setting.
  • Snacks and lunch: To help you maintain your energy and focus, we provide snacks and drinks, as well as a hot lunch from the cafeteria each day.

Mental Health Treatment Services We Provide

At Holly Hill Hospital, we teach you the skills you need to navigate life in a healthy, productive way. You learn how to communicate your needs and feelings.

We use several types of treatment for adults and adolescents:

  • Process group therapy: In group therapy, you share your concerns with a safe, confidential group. This approach helps you process your emotions better and gain perspective.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): This treatment, also called talk therapy or psychotherapy, helps you become aware of your thoughts and feelings. The goal is to improve how you respond to challenges that arise.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): This type of talk therapy helps you accept your reality, learn to change unhelpful behaviors and regulate your emotions.
  • Mindfulness: During mindfulness sessions, you become more aware of your thoughts and experiences and learn healthier ways of relating to them. It can help you develop acceptance and compassion for yourself.
  • Expressive arts therapy: Activities may include drawing, painting, journaling, listening to music and more. Art therapy may help you process and heal from trauma.
